Paraza Pharma Presenting the Bernard Belleau Award at 2026 CSC Conference

On May 27th, 2026, Paraza Pharma will have the pleasure of presenting Katherine Ryan with the Bernard Belleau Award at the 2026 CSC Conference in Toronto, Ontario. This award is given to a Canadian scientist who has made a significant contribution in the field of Medicinal Chemistry. Dr. Bernard Belleau was an innovative researcher in chemistry who specialized in finding drugs that were effective in combatting viral infections and cancer such as 3TC (lamivudine), a medication used in the treatment of AIDS and the Hepatitis B virus. Professor Ryan, who works for the University of British Columbia, is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Biosynthetic Enzymes. Her research is focused on the biosynthesis of natural products, with a focus on pathway elucidation, enzyme mechanisms, and genome-mining. She has received numerous awards such as a Sloan Fellowship, a CIHR New Investigator Award, UBC’s McDowell Award, and a Killam Accelerator Research Fellowship.
