Paraza Pharma Presenting the Bernard Belleau Award at 2024 CSC Conference

On June 5th, 2024, Paraza Pharma will have the pleasure of presenting Professor Derek A. Pratt with the Bernard Belleau Award at the 2024 CSC Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This award is given to a Canadian scientist who has made a significant contribution in the field of Medicinal Chemistry. Dr. Bernard Belleau was an innovative researcher in chemistry who specialized in finding drugs that were effective in combatting viral infections and cancer such as 3TC (lamivudine), a medication used in the treatment of AIDS and the Hepatitis B virus. Professor Pratt, who works for the University of Ottawa, holds the University Research Chair in Free Radical Chemistry. He has made many contributions to organic and bio-organic chemistry and has received numerous awards such as the inaugural Keith Fagnou award of the CSC and the Bessel prize of the Alexander von Humboldt foundation. He is also the scientific co-founder and head of chemistry of Prothegen Inc, which creates therapeutics based on the modulation of ferroptotic cell death.
