Data Science Intern

Overview: The candidate will report to Chief of Strategy and Corporate Development and will serve as an integral part of the data team. The primary focus of the internship will be on developing and implementing data-driven solutions to support strategic business initiatives on the Databricks platform. Responsibilities will include data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipeline setup, data cleaning and enrichment, model development and validation, as well as data visualization and dashboard creation. The intern will have the opportunity to work on various projects that leverage data to generate business insights.

Responsibilities:

1. Data Ingestion and Preprocessing:
   • Assist in setting up and managing ETL/ELT pipelines.
   • Participate in cleaning, normalizing, and augmenting data using public data sources.
2. Data Analysis and Modeling:
   • Assist in the development, validation, and implementation of machine learning models.
   • Utilize data science libraries such as Pandas to perform data manipulation and exploration.
   • Implement and test models and iterate for validation and optimization.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
   • Work closely with Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer, as well as with IT teams and scientists.
   • Present findings and updates to stakeholders as required.
4. Documentation and Compliance:
   • Document methodologies, conclusions, and recommendations.
   • Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, and best practices.

 Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Solid foundation in Python and experience with data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow and/or PyTorch.
• Familiarity with SQL and database management.
• Basic understanding of learning algorithms and statistical models.
• Experience with Databricks is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork abilities.
