Job Description

The rapidly growing DMPK (Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics) Department at Paraza Pharma has an opportunity for a Lab Coordinator.  You will be part of the DMPK group but will be required to work closely with members of the Logistics team.  You will maintain stocks of key biological matrices and consumable, acknowledge the receipt and the registration of test compounds/samples, ensure shipping services across multiple sites and perform various lab-related tasks. In general, your main role will be to ensure the lab is functioning smoothly and to assist the Scientists in their daily tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and register test compounds to be profiled, as well as, biological samples to be analyzed
  • Communicate shipments of new compounds to all members
  • When deemed appropriate, dissolve compounds in DMSO to generate stock solutions for in vitro assays
  • Maintain and manage biological matrices, solvent and consumable stocks. In this regard, you will be involved in price negotiation, quotation requests and follow ups on the orders.
  • Shipping of temperature sensitive items to clients and receiving packages from collaborators or suppliers. Following up on incoming or outgoing packages.
  • Plan and organize annual calibration campaigns for apparatus and small lab equipment such as biological hoods and pipettes
  • Helping other members of the group with basic laboratory task functions such as waste management and dishwashing, plates and tubes labeling in view of pharmacokinetics or other studies, as well as making common buffers and mobile phases
  • Proactively identifying areas that need attention and proposing solutions to challenges in the functioning of the laboratory

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in biochemistry or related field; alternatively, a DEC in sciences with several years of work experience will be considered
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in French and English
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Team player
  • Detail-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Must be familiar with the operation of standard lab equipment and with lab safety and biosafety procedures
  • Experience in managing an academic or industrial research laboratory
  • Hands-on experience in cell culture and other activities taking place in a biotech/pharma biology laboratory will be considered as a strong asset
  • Proficient at performing basic calculations in order to dissolve compounds and prepare dilutions
  • Knowledge of Pharma/Biotech laboratory activities
