Job Description 

 The rapidly growing DMPK (Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics) Department at Paraza Pharma has an opportunity for a Lab Manager.  As Lab Manager you will be part of the Logistics group but will be required to work closely with members of the DMPK team.  You will maintain stocks of key biological matrices and consumable, acknowledge the receipt and the registration of test compounds/samples, ensure shipping services across multiple sites and perform various lab-related tasks. In general, your main role as a Lab Manager will be to ensure the lab is functioning smoothly and to assist the scientists in their daily tasks.

Key activities may include:

  • Proactively identifying areas that need attention and proposing solutions to challenges in the functioning of the laboratory
  • Receive and register test compounds to be profiled, as well as, biological samples to be analyzed. On a case by case basis, you may also be implicated in the stock solution preparation for specific assays.
  • Maintain and manage biological matrices and consumables stocks. In this regard, you will be involved in price negotiation, quotation requests and follow-up on the orders.
  • Shipping temperature sensitive items to clients and receiving packages from collaborators or suppliers. Following up on incoming or outgoing packages.
  • Plan and organize calibration campaigns for apparatus and small lab equipment such as biological hoods and pipettes.
  • Helping other members of the group with basic tasks of laboratory function, such as, waste management, dishwashing, plates and tubes labeling in view of pharmacokinetics or other studies, as well as making common buffers and mobile phases.

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.Sc. in biochemistry or closely related discipline. Alternatively, a B.Sc in sciences with several years of work experience will be considered.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational and communication skills are required
  • Must be familiar with the operation of standard lab equipment and with lab safety and biosafety procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing an academic or industrial research laboratory.
  • Hands-on expertise in cell culture and other activities taking place in a biotech/pharma biology laboratory will be considered a strong asset
  • Ability to multi-task and independently prioritize activities as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both French and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Pharma/Biotech laboratory activities
