Job description for M.Sc. or Ph.D. candidate

We are seeking a talented individual with expertise in the area of protein-ligand modeling to join Paraza’s CADD (Computer-Aided drug design) team in Montreal. The candidate will support the Chemical Sciences group by implementing appropriate computational solutions to small-molecule drug design problems.

Key components in this role are to effectively communicate computational information to project teams, to address key issues and to impact the research direction.


The candidate will be expected to apply appropriate computational tools to aid medicinal chemistry efforts and work to be proactive in proposing potential solutions.

Key responsibilities of the successful candidate will include the following:

  • Effectively interpret scientific problems and implement computational solutions within a timely manner
  • Maximize the impact of CADD on protein/small-molecule projects in collaboration with project teams
  • Serve as a CADD representative on project teams

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in computational chemistry or related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to clearly present their research to a broad audience
  • Experience in molecular docking and interpretation of protein ligand interactions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of computational methods as applied to drug-design
  • An understanding of medicinal chemistry in order to effectively communicate with scientists
  • An understanding of molecular recognition and its applications in protein-ligand design
  • Experience in one of the molecular modeling packages, such as; MOE, Schrodinger suites, ICM or OpenEye
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, constantly seeking creative solutions to challenging problems
  • Able to work within a team structure and effectively communicate with colleagues at all levels
  • Good sense of priority and urgency to manage multiple requests in parallel
  • Strong analytical with a drive for creative solutions to challenging problems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
